Pattern and Foundation Papers
- Available at Quilting Bits and Pieces
Fabric - Fabric requirements are listed on the back of the pattern, however it is sometimes confusing. So here is a little more info:
- Since these are placemats and will probably be washed, prewashing is recommended.
- You can use all red (watermelon) or do each one a different fruit – orange, lemon, lime, apple, etc.
- Light Blue – (background) 1/2 yard
- Light Green – (middle rind) 1/2 yard
- Med/Dark green – (inner rind) 3/4 yard
- Dark green – (outer rind) 3/8 yard
- Black (or a lighter or darker red) – (inside and seeds) – 1/2 yard.
- Red – (best part – the juicy inside) – 1 yard
Sewing Supplies
- Working machine with a quarter inch foot and open toe foot. Machine should have variable stitch length down to 1.8
- Rotary mat, cutter (with new blade), and 6 x 12 inch ruler (or similar)
- Iron and pressing mat (may be available in classroom)
- Fabric and paper scissors, seam ripper, and other typical sewing supplies
Paper Piecing Supplies
- Large Paper Clips
- Stapler
- At least 3 One gallon zip lock bags and Sharpie to label
- Paper scissors
- Water soluble Glue stick (Elmers or Uhu)(limited quantities available for purchase)
- Sew Line Glue Pen (available at QBP)
- Add a Quarter Ruler (available at QBP)
- Seam roller (optional)
