Needle Turn Applique - Back Basting Method

Back Basting Appliqué

Needle turn appliqué doesn't have to be scary! Nor does it have to take hours and hours of prep time before you begin to stitch! We will be learning the Back-basting Appliqué method. By tracing your design to the wrong side of the background fabric there is no problem with marking lines on the front that don't quite get covered. We will discuss needles and the different types of threads and I will have some available for you to try.

Required Supplies

  1.  The book 100 Whimsical Appliqué Designs by Becky Goldsmith and Linda Jenkins
  2.  10” piece of background fabric and fabrics to make the design on page 72 (block 52)
  3.  Fabric Scissors
  4.  Large needle and thread for basting fabric to the background (I used an embroidery needle   and hand quilting thread)
  5.  Optional – Thimble

You will receive a 15% discount on all class supplies
