Master Gardener Club - Using Janice Vaine's book, The Art of Elegant Hand Embroidery, Embellishment and Appliqué, we are working on 4" blocks, starting with appliqué or embroidery then adding embellishments of dimentional appliqué, beading, wonderful new (at least to us) embroidery stitches, and silk ribbon. This on-going club meets every other week (mostly) and we are having lots of fun and learning some fun stitches and techniques. Come join us! Each class stands alone, so you can start anytime.

Instructors: Christina and Kaye
Dates & time: Friday's, Oct. 14 and 21, Nov. 4 and 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Cost: $5.00 per club day + book $34.95

Twilling - Twilling is an old-fashioned stitch that adds a lot of elegance to any project. It is very easy to do and also very addictive. Once you learn the technique the possibilities for embellishing quilts are endless.

Instructor: Christina
Dates: Friday, Nov. 25 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
Cost: $15

Late Night @ QB&P - Spend a Friday night sewing, eating and visiting with other quilters. This is one of our most popular events and we always have a great time. Bring your projects and a snack to share, we will provide supper. This is a great opportunity to get in some quality quilting time while enjoying the fellowship of other quilters.

Instructors: Staff
Dates: Fridays, Oct. 14 and Nov 18
Time: 5:00 - ? pm
Cost: $15

Rug, Placemat, or Purse--Woven on a Loom - If you have trouble finding rugs in just the right colors for your home you now have the opportunity to make a 26" by 34" rug in the colors that are pleasing to you. Or, try your hand at your own woven Placemats, or maybe a Purse would be your choice. In class you will "warp the frame" then begin weaving your fabric strips and see how easy your rug, placemat or purse will come together. We'll discuss ideas on arranging your colors for making the sections of your weaving and I will point out steps from your book, Rugs from Rags by Country Threads, (required purchase) that you will follow to complete your chosen project. Don't be alarmed by the amount of fabric this uses, you probably have many fabrics in your stash that you have had a long time. What a great way to use them! Instructions for building your own rug frame (required for the class) are in the book or you may purchase one from Deanna's husband at Deanna@rosecottagequilts.com

Instructor: Deanna
Dates & Time: Monday Oct 31 from 12:30 to 2:30
Cost: $25

Back Basting Appliqué - In this technique class students will begin a small wallhanging. The design is transferred and stitched on the wrong side of the background fabric and basted from the back then needle turn appliquéd to finish the front. This is a very portable appliqué method. Class is one 2 hour session.

Instructor: Barb
Dates & Time: Tuesday, Oct 11 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, OR Thursday, Oct 13 from 10:00 am to noon
Cost: $25

Paper Piecing for beginners - This class will cover the basics of paper piecing. We will discuss what kind of paper to use, stitch length, pre-cutting fabric, and using the add-a-quarter ruler. We will work on a block from the book Show Me How to Paper Piece. The block will be fairly simple to make and you should be able to complete it in class. You may then go ahead and complete a quilt using that block or use the technique and start a quilt of your choice.

Instructor: Christina
Date and Time: Thursday, Oct. 6 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Cost: $25

SORRY, THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED Neckties! - This is a fun, new class with Terry Thompson using neckties to create interesting quilt blocks. Collect ties from your men friends and relatives; go to the antique or thrift shop, garage sales, or second hand stores to find wild, wacky and wonderful vintage or new necties. Terry will supply the patterns (a different pattern each class day!) and you bring 1 yard of muslin, and hand or machine sewing tools, rotary cutter, mat and ruler.

Instructor: Terry
Date & Time: Saturdays, October 8, 15 & 29 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm
Cost: $45

Rose Blossoms Sampler Class - In this two session class Deanna will help you with techniques in rotary cutting and basic block construction using time saving tips. You will also have the option of adding simple wool appliqué to the center of your quilt or use your own creative ideas to make the center your own design - fussy cutting a floral bouquet or other design motif might suit you best. You choose! Deanna will have wool available to match your fabrics if this is your choice. Be prepared as there will be some homework during the two weeks between classes. Purchase of the Rose Blossoms Sampler pattern ($10) is required for the class.

Instructor: Deanna
Date & Time: Wednesdays, Oct. 12 & 26 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm
Cost: $60

Beginning Machine Appliqué\Bloomin' Holly Table Runner - This table runner is too cute to resist and a great way to learn all the basics of machine appliqué and practice your skills. It could easily be made longer or bigger if you wanted to add extra blocks or borders, hang it on your door or on a narrow wall. What a fun project to get ready for Christmas!

Instructor: Nan
Dates & Time: Saturdays, November 5 and 19 from 10:00 am to noon
Cost: $35

Back Basting Appliqué - Beyond the Basics (pre-requisite: Basic Back Basting class or familiarity with the technique - either learned by Barb or any other teacher.) - In this two hour session Barb will share her tips and tricks for appliqué situations that are a bit more complicated than what is typically presented in an introductory class or basic online tutorial. Layered pieces, reverse appliqué, vines and berries, and "kissing" pieces will be covered as well as much more! This class will be part demo and part hands on.

Instructor: Barb
Date & Time: Thursday, Nov. 17 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Cost: $25

Simplified Cathedral Windows Technique - This is not the way your grandmother did Cathedral Windows but the effect is striking and the technique is very easy. During our class you will construct a 14" block with five "windows" that can be used as a pillowtop or make additional blocks for a larger project. The design possibilities are endless as you choose the fabrics to be displayed in your windows, background and frame. Deanna will show you a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Instructor: Deanna
Date & Time: Monday, Nov. 21 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm
Cost: $30
