Cathedral Windows
Although Jan's method uses some machine sewing, this class is a true skill builder for hand work, using three different stitches. This project will result in a 19 inch finished square, which can be used as a table topper, a pillow top or the beginning of a larger quilt. You can keep adding to it so long as you have enough background fabric. The 'windows' are made of 3 inch squares. The best part is that when you have the blocks and windows sewn together, you're done - no quilting, batting or binding! This is a great take-along project, but if you work on it in public, be prepared to answer a lot of questions.

Once you learn all the things it can do you will keep it in your shopping bag every time you shop for fabric or work on a quilt. It is a total time saver. In the class you will learn how it works, what all the buttons can do, and how to use it to calculate everything from quilt backing to bindings, how many squares you can cut from your scraps, and how much yardage to buy for a set of blocks. The only thing it can't do is cook! Bring your FabriCalc and a pencil.

Vintage Tucks & Textures Sampler
In this three hour class you will make six blocks ranging from very simple to more advanced. However, as you begin to understand the technique, you will find them all quite do-able. This will give you a good taste of how this technique can be used to make a variety of lovely dimensional blocks. We will use Jennie Rayment's book, Creative Tucks & Textures (a required purchase) as a reference for instruction and design ideas. As you'll see in my samples, I've added vintage embellishments, doilies and hankies, to finish my quilt design. I will provide a handout so you too can add your unique touch to finish this 55" by 63" quilt. Be sure to pick up your supply list and cutting instructions as there is prep work before class. I hope to see you there!
